Company Description:

Rotolight are award-winning LED lighting manufacturers specialising in the development of bi-colour on-camera, location and studio lighting for broadcast, cinematography and photography.

Favoured by broadcasters and DoPs worldwide, Rotolight’s entire range benefit from a continuous output that is entirely flicker-free at any frame rate – certified by Phantom Cameras – with fully-tuneable colour temperature from 3150-6300K. Coupled with the added bonus of a High Speed Sync flash, Rotolight’s British-made LEDs deliver an array of solutions for creatives; more than any other light on the market.

Rotolight also features a number of industry-first, patented technologies, including Designer FadeTM, True Aperture DimmingTM and CineSFXTM. CineSFXTM provides cinematographers with a built-in suite of customisable lighting effects (fire, lightning, gunshot etc.) which eliminate the need for complex, cumbersome flicker-box workflows and allows users to create realistic effects on set within seconds.

Rotolight’s flagship LED, the Anova PRO 2, is the light of choice for many, including London’s first fully 4K TV studio, Celebro Media, as well as their studios in Washington and Moscow and live OB teams on location. Delivering excellent colour accuracy (CRI 96, TLCI 91), the Anova PRO 2 ensures on air talent are evenly lit with a powerful yet soft output of 10,700 lux. “As you get older you get more and more excited about soft lights I think,” jokes renowned news presenter, Martin Stanford. “They’re very flattering. It used to be the case where you’d have to set up reflectors to get nice skin tones, but we don’t have to do that with the Anova PRO 2.” Whilst powerful, the Anova PRO 2 offers best-in-class energy efficiency at 90W, resulting in unrivalled battery performance when shooting on location. Giving users multiple control options in studio, the Anova PRO 2 can be controlled via standard five-pin DMX, Rotolight Wireless DMX or from an RJ45 port on the rear of the light. “The standard 5 pin DMX is great, but when using a larger lighting set up, you end up with massive cables across your ceiling and, if one cable fails, you’re going to lose all of them,” says Celebro Media CEO, Wesley Dodd. “The advantage of using RJ45 is that every light can be connected independently, and you can run it through a standard ethernet socket that you’re likely to have already anyway. Seeing as we’ve got an IT-based workflow, we have a lot of those, so it’s easy to set up and is a fraction of the price.”

The ultra-portable location light, AEOS, weighs just 1.4kg and only one inch thick; minimising excess weight when travelling. Affording users such as Italian state broadcaster, RAI, increased flexibility when shooting documentaries or for ENG, the AEOS was also recognised by Government Video for representing technological excellence and innovation in the industry. With an output of 5750 lux at three feet and integrated aluminium handles which allow for easy handheld use, the AEOS is the ideal location light for creating dynamic effects.

A small light that delivers big results, the Rotolight NEO 2 is a pioneering compact, on-camera LED. Available as either a single unit, three-light kit with a hard case, or portable Explorer Kit, the NEO 2 is perfect for mounting on camera for ENG. Used on the set of BAFTA-nominated Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, the NEO 2 allows creatives to unleash spur of the moment creativity; fitting into the most awkward spaces to evenly light any subject and create dramatic effects at a moment’s notice.
