Extended Description:

Since the Company’s founding in 1993, broadcast video over IP-pioneer Media Links continues to deliver carrier-class media transport solutions that adhere to recognized broadcast television standards and expectations. These solutions utilize Ethernet/IP packet transport and switching and have been deployed in many of the world’s most watched high profile sporting and live television events.

Active participation in standards organizations like SMPTE and VSF have helped to shape its MD8000, MDX, and MDP product lines while focusing development on evergreen, standards-based technology that can readily adapt to new and evolving technical and customer requirements (e.g. 4K UHD, HDR, SMPTE 2110, SDN, etc.).

Media Links’ renowned MD8000 IP media transport platform facilitates the transmission of high-value media content and data over wide area networks. The MD8000 system is scalable and modular, which means its configuration can be tailored to the demands of a specific network, event, production, or content delivery requirement. It offers robust redundancy with hitless switching operation, low-latency, bi-directional processing, and the ability to accommodate a wide variety of uncompressed and compressed video formats. Click here for more info.

The new MDP3040 supports 4K video and is the latest member of the MDP3000 Series of IP Media Gateways.  The MDP3040 is a multi-channel 4K/UHD encoder/decoder with TICO lightweight compression supporting several configurations. Two 12G-SDI inputs can be TICO encoded and transmitted over dual 10GbE network trunk interfaces; or two TICO encoded network streams can be simultaneously received and decoded as two 12G-SDI outputs. For delivering 4K/UHD signals over existing 3G-SDI infrastructures, the MDP3040 can function as a standalone two channel 12G-SDI input to two channel TICO compressed BNC output encoder, or as a two channel TICO compressed BNC input to two channel 12G-SDI output decoder. Click here for more info.

The MDP3020 sends either uncompressed or JPEG2000 compressed SDI video signals over IP with support for SMPTE 2022-2/6/7 and TR-01 standards. By combining encoding & decoding in a single unit and offering multi-format support including 3G/HD/SD-SDI, DVB/ASI, as well as audio and data, the MDP3020 saves on rack space, providing a portable, bi-directional and cost-effective media gateway where economical IP media conversion is a ‘must have.’ Click here for more info.

Both the MDP3040 and MDP3020 are perfectly suited for both contribution as well as distribution applications.

Built for Carrier, Superhub and Studio network applications, the Media Links MDX Family of high performance Core and Aggregation switches are designed to interoperate seamlessly with a wide range of Media Links equipment, including the MD8000 Media over IP transport platform as well as MDP 3000 Series of IP Media Gateways. Supporting up to 100 Gigabit per second port speeds, the MDX portfolio is optimized to handle both compressed and uncompressed video/audio streams as well as bi-directional TCP-over-IP data traffic. The MDX products are also designed with a non-blocking architecture that assures no packet loss at full bandwidth rates in various configurations. Plus, they can accommodate hitless protection switching of media traffic, which is something conventional network switches cannot do.

Both unicast and multicast traffic applications with 9KB jumbo frames are supported as well as an advanced set of Quality of Service (QoS) features including per port priority queuing, traffic scheduling and traffic classification.

Compact form factors down to 1RU along and NEBs certification are offered on certain MDX models along with hot swappable, load sharing redundant AC/DC power supplies. With a total switching capacity of up to 6+ Tbps, the MDX family of high capacity/bandwidth, low latency and high availability switches helps content providers, broadcasters and carriers deliver the media services needed today and well into the future. All Media Links products are intelligently monitored, controlled and managed by the ProMD EMS – Enhanced Management System. The ProMD EMS solution is an essential multi-user software-based tool used to configure, provision, manage and troubleshoot small to large scale IP video and media transport networks. It gives network operators and broadcasters the ability to quickly bring new services online for studio, remote and field locations, all while monitoring and maintaining the performance and reliability of active circuits, trunks and network devices.
